How We Use AI in Our Operations

At Qatalyst Research Group, we are seamlessly integrating artificial intelligence into every aspect of consulting—from the development of proposals to the analysis of research results, and preparation of reports and presentations. Building on the tools we have developed and lessons we have learned, we now provide services to other consulting firms to assist them integrate AI into their operations, delivering higher quality results within shorter timelines at reduced costs.

Some of the tools that we have developed or are currently developing include:

  • Proposal Generator. Through a six stage process, the Generator develops a detailed proposal outline, prepares a draft proposal (drawing from a database of team members profiles and resumes, project descriptions, methodologies, and other proposal components) and scores the results based on the criteria provided in the RFP.
  • Benchmarking Tools. The tool takes input from management and staff members (where relevant), benchmarks the organization against others in the database, identifies opportunities for improvement and then links the users to knowledge databases, online materials or LLM-generated recommendations that can assist them in making those improvements. It can be applied to a wide range of topics.
  • Comprehensive Literature Review. The tool walks the user through a multi-stage process where they define the research questions, establish parameters for the selection of materials, search for resources or facilitate uploading of resource material, summarize findings, prepare an outline, and developing the first and a second formatted drafts with citations. The tool keeps the human-in-the-loop all through the process and validates the results.
  • Workplan Development. The tool works with the user to build an analytical framework (set of research questions, key indicators, and data sources), outline the methodology, prepare an engagement plan, develop data collection materials, and draft introduction and background sections to be included in the workplan.
  • Transcript Analyzers. Transcripts are uploaded, de-identified, cleaned, summarized, and themed by research question or topic.
  • Survey Coder. The coder takes a data collection file (e.g., Excel), conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis of the raw or filtered data, and produces a formatted technical report with tables and supporting narrative that presents the results by question.
  • Detailed Qualitative Analyzer. We developed a deep-dive qualitative analysis tool for key informant interviews and other text heavy research. The tool deepens the user’s understanding of the data by presenting results by theme and sub-theme with summaries, supporting bullets, counts and quotes with coding that is easily traceable back to source cells in the data.
  • Knowledge-Exchange Chatbots. Allows users to securely chat with knowledge bases and approved LLMs via an API.
  • RAG Systems. We build retrieval-augmented generation systems for policy, program, knowledge, research and other data repositories.
  • Document QA & Chat. Users can upload, summarize, and interrogate one or a group of source documents.

We have integrated various tools into a single platform that facilitates sharing project information across tools. Check out our AI Policy here.
