Qatalyst is both a consulting firm and a software developer. It advises clients on strategies for technology investment, and its in-house team builds databases, dashboards and analytical tools, including the BC Tourism & Hospitality Employment Tracker for go2HR, updated monthly since 2021, and a restaurant benchmarking tool for the Chefs' Table Society of BC.
Our Service
The Qatalyst business model is a marriage between a consulting firm and a technology firm, which is intent on bringing disruption to the consulting industry. To respond to client needs, we developed the leading Canadian-based digital platform for management consultants, through which we can quickly and cost-effectively match clients with multi-disciplinary teams of specialists, drawing from a network of over 400 consultants across Canada and supported by our core staff of about 20. We tailor our project teams to meet the specific needs of each assignment.
Our Approach
We have an in-house development team, which is capable of developing software applications and databases to meet your needs. Here are a couple examples of past projects where we have developed software solutions for our clients: a webpage that integrates into our client's website which visualizes data in a collection of interactive charts and graphs; and a secure database platform accessed by hundreds of users which stores confidential data to be analyzed by our experts.
Our development team has created a platform of internal tools known as Qatalink. Qatalink is a website which allows our network of over 400 associates to access RFPs and opportunities, assemble perfectly tailored teams of specialized experts, and manage their projects through a task management productivity tool.
We are harnessing the revolutionary power of AI technology by developing a suite of AI-powered tools. The latest AI tool in our arsenal is a text-analytics application, which is capable of reading hundreds of qualitative survey responses and quickly identifying common themes amongst the responses.

The firm reviewed more than 100 digital platforms, found none that suited a firm built around a network of associates, and built its own. Qatalink holds profiles for over 400 associates, finds public-sector opportunities, supports shared project workspaces and invoicing, and includes AI tools for interview analysis, survey coding and literature reviews. What is a benchmarking tool?
A benchmarking tool compares an organization's practices or results with those of similar organizations to show where it can improve. Qatalyst's benchmarking tool collects answers from managers and sometimes staff, compares them with others in its database, identifies improvement opportunities and links users to resources. For the Chefs' Table Society of BC, it was paired with 30 resource materials to help restaurants improve HR practices and staff retention. Read the case study.
Does Qatalyst help organizations plan technology investments?
Yes. Qatalyst helps develop strategies that govern investments in technology, and it evaluates innovation and technology programs. For Alberta Innovates, it evaluated the Executive Business Advisors Program, which matches high-growth companies with experienced executives, by surveying 54 clients and potential clients, interviewing 25 key informants and mapping Alberta's startup ecosystem. How does Qatalyst use technology in its consulting work?
Qatalyst uses its own software and AI tools at each stage of a project, from finding opportunities and drafting proposals to analyzing data and preparing reports. Its capabilities include survey research, social media analytics, predictive analytics, text analytics, and infographics and data visualization. Its AI tools analyze interviews, code open-ended survey responses and support literature reviews, with a person reviewing the results throughout.
