Junior Consultant
This is a unique opportunity with a potential for quick advancement for an energetic, independent-minded, and ambitious person looking to establish a career in applied research that directly impacts a wide range of policies and programs. You will report directly to the senior management.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to developing research methodologies, frameworks, research tools, and plans
- Conduct secondary research (literature and document review) and primary research (interviews, surveys, focus groups)
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and write concise reports
- Design, develop, format and proofread professional reports, proposals, presentations and correspondence
- Balance multiple priorities and tasks, including participating in concurrent projects
- Work with other members of the team to support a wide range of research activities
- Further develop your areas of expertise and interest
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of demonstrated history and work experience in one or more of the following:
- Program evaluation and performance measurement
- Science, technology and innovation
- Economic development
- The non-profit sector and social finance
- Strategy development and support for implementation (e.g. organizational, sector, regional, market and labour market development strategies)
- Marketing and digital media
- Organizational reviews and change management
- Ability to research, curate, organize and synthesize diverse and complex data sets
- Independent and critical thinking skills
- Superb analytical, writing and communication skills
- Ability to work with a diverse set of highly skilled professionals in a team-based environment
- Graduate degree
- Innovative, curious, ambitious and problem-solving personality
- Goal-oriented, self-starter who takes the initiative to effect change and continuously improve activities

Researcher
Qatalyst Research Group is looking for a full-time researcher to join our team in Vancouver, BC. We are looking for an ambitious, curious and reliable researcher interested in public sector policy and program evaluation. Successful applicant will be working directly with the senior management of the organization on various projects. We are currently working on projects for Justice Canada, Doctors of BC, Saskatchewan Community Policing, and numerous economic development and labour market studies.
Responsibilities
- Implementing field research activities (interviews, surveys, and focus groups);
- Conducting document, file and literature reviews;
- Assisting project managers with logistics (scheduling/communication);
- Conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis; and
- Final analysis and report writing.
Qualifications
- Post secondary degree in areas such as social sciences, business, public sector policy, or statistics and data analysis;
- 2 to 3 years of experience in conducting research and qualitative and quantitative data analysis;
- Superb time management, analytical and writing skills;
- Solid understanding of research methodologies;
- Great communication skills and ability to work with a diverse set of highly skilled professionals in a team-based environment;
- Innovative, curious, ambitious and problem-solving personality;
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SPSS and survey software (e.g. Survey Monkey);
- Fluency in French is an asset as is experience in working in and with Indigenous communities.

Data & Excel Specialist
The Research Department at Qatalyst is currently looking for a Data & Excel Specialist who can analyze closed-ended and open-ended survey data for various projects using Excel.
In particular, the candidate is required to produce tabulations, data tables with counts and percentages, crosstabs, charts and figures for closed-ended survey data (examples of closed-ended survey questions include: multiple choice, select all that apply, rating scale, and matrix). Summarizing and coding/grouping open-ended responses into key themes is required for open-ended analysis, which would result in a table with key themes and counts, or as a paragraph summarizing the comments from respondents.
This is a short term position that starts ASAP.

Report Proofreading & Editing Specialist
Almost every project that the Qatalyst Research Team works on includes the proofreading and editing of reports. Qatalyst’s Research Department is looking for two on call proofreading and editing experts. Most of our reports are produced using Microsoft Word. The desired candidate is expected to have adequate experience using Microsoft Word, particularly experience formatting and editing word documents.
This is a short term position that starts ASAP.
