Evaluation of the First Nations Health Authority

The First Nations Health Authority, or FNHA, marks an important step forward for First Nations healthcare in British Columbia. In 2013, the FNHA became Canada's first (and to date only) provincial-level First Nations health authority, taking over responsibility for the programs and services previously delivered by the federal government through Health Canada's First Nations and Inuit Health Branch — Pacific Region.

Earlier this year, the Qatalyst Research Group (under the GGI brand) completed a comprehensive and wide-ranging evaluation of the First Nations Health Authority. In keeping with the purpose of the evaluation, which was to tell the story of change resulting from the FNHA's creation, we examined the authority's performance in its first years and assessed its progress against its mandate and strategic plan.
